Decision Support Systems
In the knowledge of the great economic depression of nowadays, there are a few announced projects and collaborative programs on Active and Healthy Ageing worldwide, like the European Innovation Partnership 2020, in order to improve the sustainability and efficiency of social and health care systems and boost citizens and markets to respond and win to the ageing challenge. While prevention, screening and early diagnosis is the key access for the healthy growth, many IT multidisciplinary applications have been already used for care and cure of the elderly.
During 2013-2014, two Computer-Aid Diagnosis (CAD) programs have been designed and implemented from two groups of undergraduate students in the Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics Department at the University of Thessaly. These CDSS Systems can be applied in order to analyze clinical data and make clinical decisions more easily, from medical doctors, patients and care givers in general.
